What is Therapy for Women?

Therapy for Women (or Women’s Therapy) focuses in on your specific needs and addresses life stressors that many women face.

Womanhood is so much more than being a woman, a mom, a sister, a daughter, or even female.  Women experience unique life stressors related to major transitions, career and childrearing, family dynamics, and more.  Plus, women must endure a society filled with double standards:

At the same time women experience unique health issues, such as:

  • Postpartum depression or anxiety

  • Menopause

  • Osteoporosis

  • Autoimmune disorders (women are 3x more likely than men to have one)

  • Chronic pain

  • Cancer (ovarian, breast, cervical, etc.)

  • And more

If you or someone you love are struggling and would like support, don’t wait.  You deserve a chance at wellness - contact us today to get started.

How can therapy help?

Therapy isn’t about changing who you are – it’s about helping you feel understood, discover your unique voice, and learn strategies for dealing with the real world.

Feel understood.  Women (especially those with medical issues) often feel misunderstood or alone because no one else seems to get it.  Therapy is your confidential safe haven from judgment and criticism. You get the chance to share your worries, fears, and frustrations without feeling like you are burdening others.

Discover your voice.  Therapy is all about you.  Many women feel silenced or ignored by those around them, and so they rarely have the chance to truly express themselves.  You can redefine what it means to be you, realize your values, and find ways of expressing your needs.

Learn new strategies.  Your physician can help you manage your health medically, but your psychologist can teach you how to manage socially, emotionally, and psychologically.  You can learn specific strategies for boosting your mood, setting boundaries with stressors, sleeping better, and more.
